Hate Exchange Letter

Thank you for writing for me! <3 Most of these are pretty open ended and more on the angsty side, but I really love all of these characters so I'm sure to love whatever you write for me! I'm fine with any variation on how much the hate/angst lasts through things and if it's resolved, so as long as it's hitting the theme at some point don't worry about hitting it "enough" or anything (but also don't feel like you have to resolve it).

I didn't add my smut likes in here because I tend towards fluffy smut and didn't want to prompt something that wasn't appropriate to the exchange, but if you've got a hatesex (or a non-hates idea and want to check then my smut likes rarely change in most of my other letters! My general likes were a little edited to pull out fluffy stuff but otherwise are mostly the same as normal.

I am completely fine with focus on canon deaths, grief/grieving, worry about the possibility of non-canon deaths, or focus on the times in canon that the main character kills themself whether it's characterized as suicidal or as a heroic sacrifice. (I figured I should mention it since a lot of people DNW that stufff)

There's about five million places in the game where either of the roles the twins end up in could really easily go into angst or hating themselves or just not feeling like they were doing good enough, especially since things start with characters very clearly doubting that they can manage the job. I prompted a bunch of the ones I thought of for both siblings, but if you thought of something else along the same theme and want to go with that instead please do!

I tried to have prompts for both Scott as Pathfinder and Scott as non-Pathfinder! Don't feel stuck to those if you think of something else though!

I'm totally fine with focus on the canon deaths, speculation about the possibility or fear of non-canon deaths, or focus on the implications that the Pathfinder ordering SAM to kill them on the Archon's ship could have.

Since I DNWed custom names, the defaults are Scott and Sara. I'm not picky about sticking to the default appearances though.


M!Scott & Self

• Insecurity and self doubt and questioning due to either something specific going wrong or just everything being a mess and not fixing it fast enough or any of the specific things that happen in canon.
• Overstressing/overworking
• Feeling like he should have done something more to change how things went down on Habitat 7.
• Or for a non-pathfinder, feeling like Habitat 7 (or any of the missions that went iffy/badly) might have gone differently if he'd been awake to help.
• Wishing that his dad had chosen the greater good instead of Scott's life. Maybe because he thinks his dad would have a better chance of keeping everyone alive, maybe because of just not wanting someone to die for him.
• Wishing that they had woken up Sara first in moments (extended or brief) where he thinks she would have done a better job
• Non-pathfinder Scott freaking out over being 'useless', whether due to having been in a coma for awhile or due to the long recover period
• Non-pathfinder throwing himself into tech stuff (or some other specialization) and anything he can do while on the Nexus. Maybe putting back his recovery and feeling bad about that and also feeling frustrated that he literally can't help as much as anyone else even though he should have the expertise/ability.
• Non-Pathfinder struggling with having been unable to fight back against the Archon after he was kidnapped. (Whether just up to the last part, or feeling like what he was able to do during the final fight wasn't enough).
• Sara and Scott both having conflicting insecurities and having trouble comforting each other because of that.
• Anything to do with the Pathfinder ordering SAM to kill them on the Archon's ship. Whether that's actual emotional issues that went into it (maybe making it easier to jump into that sort of risk), other people making assumptions about it that are stressing him out, lingering physical issues, getting upset about causing issues for SAM with that order, or a non-Pathfinder Scott freaking out over Sara temporarily dying.

Scum Villain's Self Saving System

This one is a little bit complicated because I really do love the dynamic they ended up with in the book, but there's so many things that could be confusing/frustrating/suspicious to Liu Qingge and we never really know since the book isn't from his POV. The prompts here are mostly exaggerating or expanding on those moments. I'm still not totally solid on characterization for this canon so if you had another idea please feel free to go with that instead! <3

I'm totally fine with focus on Shen Qingqiu's canon death (even if Liu Qingge thinks he's permadead at that point), SQQ exploding his core, and that sort of thing.

I only requested the "/" tag because I know unrequited is a MAJOR thing with LQG and I didn't feel like it would be fair to DNW that with the & tag and potentially catch someone off guard. 'Basically gen' is totally fine for this one too as long as there's not reciprocated background Bingqiu (I ship that too but since this request is Liu Qingge focused I'd rather not get it) or anything else that would make it read as definitely unrequited. If both Luo Binghe and Liu Qingge are still stuck in the pining zone still then that's totally fine. And background Bingqiu that's clearly heading in a Liubingqiu way is great!

I'd you're doing something set after the canon relationship happens and don't want to go in a poly direction, I'd prefer that the canon relationship just never started. (I realize that is a big thing that I'm just yadayadaing past, but since all the prompts below are for before the canon relationship starts, I'm assuming that you've got an idea if you're going this direction <3)


Liu Qingge/&Shen Qingqiu

• Adjusting to Shen Qingqiu's new personality and coming up with logical reasons why the person he knew might be acting this way and then having reality shoot them down.
• Taking longer than he did in canon to believe Shen Qingqiu isn't up to something, and coming up with reasons why something underhanded must be going on, maybe following Shen Qingqiu around surreptitiously to try to catch him plotting.
• Picking up on little things Shen Qingqiu does to deliberately annoy him and it throwing him back into that old headspace even though it's a very new sort of annoying.
• The aftermath of Shen Qingqiu choosing to die for Binghe (or any of the other choices Shen Qingqiu made that harmed himself instead of letting Liu Qingge fight for him)
• Moments of resentment during the five years both related to the above thing and at being the one who has to fight Binghe, because he can't just leave Shen Qingqiu's body there.
• The aftermath of Shen Qingqiu's plant body getting revealed (both for him faking his death, and for him knowing about Shang Qinghua)
• Getting hints at Shen Jiu's whole deal with Yue Qingyuan and trying to reconcile that with Shen Yuan
• All of the above prompts are Liu Qingge hating Shen Yuan type prompts, but if you can think of any good ideas for the other way around please feel free to go for them!

I feel like "disasters" kind of encompasses them? There's SO MUCH in canon with these three, most of it just hinted at or implied, some of it very very visibly on screen.


Arcann & Thexan & Vaylin

• Moments of resenting each other in their childhood
• Arcann & Thexan getting manipulated into competing for their dad's affection over and over.
• Arcann & Thexan's personalities getting more and more different as they age, especially with Arcann going more and more darksided and unpredictable.
• Arcann seeing Thexan like a mirror of what he used to be, after his injury
• Arcann & Thexan arguing over Vaylin's situation
• Thexan guilting Arcann for not visiting Vaylin
• The aftermath of Thexan's death
• Vaylin hating Arcann for killing Thexan and bringing it up a bunch
• Arcann constantly questioning what Thexan would have done
• The aftermath of Arcann betraying Vaylin

• Major focus on anything to do with Kadara, Exiled Colonists, Colonists turned Raiders, the Nexus Uprising, ect. This includes colonists who were exiled but went their own way, mentions of anything involving exile, and any nameless colonists-turned-raiderlike-minons. (EXCEPTION: Fixits or Jien-lived scenarios). It's okay to have the effects of it in there (eg: the Krogan Colony or Kandros being head of security), I'd just prefer to avoid directly dealing with that whole plotline as much as possible. It's just a personal dislike thing, so don't stress if you need to briefly reference something! I'm mainly trying to avoid fics with it as a major focus or things that would have to reference it repeatedly enough that I couldn't just ignore it.
